A 14 ans, Joseph travaille dur, sous le soleil brûlant de Camargue. Il enchaine les petits boulots dans le bâtiment. Son chantier du jour, c’est une grande bâtisse, en Arles. Pour se donner du coeur à l’ouvrage, Joseph chante en levant des pierres, en préparant son mortier. Joseph a toujours chanté, depuis sa plus tendre enfance, à tue tête parfois, tout ce qu’il entend, un air d’opéra de Mozart, les chansons de Ginette Reno, des chants sacrés Gitans. Ce jour là, le leader d’un célèbre groupe Gipsy croise la route de Joseph. Il s’arrête, interpelle ce gamin étonnant. Il est bluffé, mais le gamin est encore bien trop jeune pour venir en tournée avec eux.
Quelques temps plus tard, Joseph sera invité à rejoindre le groupe pour une soirée privée. Lorsqu’il entame sa première chanson, un grand silence s’installe dans la salle, Joseph pense qu’il a du faire une faute, qu’il s’est trompé, mais bien au contraire, c’est la stupéfaction d’une audience ébahie par sa voix incroyable, puissante, solaire. At age fourteen, Joseph is hard at work under the Camargue sun, jumping from one construction job to the other. Working on a house in Arles, Joseph sings for himself and his companions, lifting stones, preparing the mortar. As far back as he can remember, Joseph has always sang everything that catches his ear – a Mozart opera piece, the music of Ginette Reno, sacred Gypsy songs.
One day, the leader of a famous Gypsy band crosses Joseph’s path. He’s stopped in his tracks by the wunderkid and his distinct voice. But Joseph is too young to join the band and follow them on tour.Some years later, Joseph is invited to sing with the band for a private party. When he starts his first song, the room falls completely silent. Joseph is startled, thinking he has made a faux pas, but the audience is mesmerized by his voice. Powerful. Joyful. Solar. Im Alter von vierzehn Jahren arbeitete Joseph hart unter der Sonne der Camargue und wechselte von einem Baustellenjob zum nächsten. Während er an Häusern in Arles arbeitete, sang Joseph für sich und seine Gefährten, schleppte Steine und rührte den Mörtel an.
